Meticulous body off frame restoration to factory specs. #s matching 409, factory red-red car. She's real fine, this 409.
EXTERIOR: It is restored better than new because this thing didn't look this good when it rolled off the assembly line. The body is laser beam straight. It is just as smooth on the rockers as it is on the roof. The gaps line up precisely, doors click shut like a new car. Repainted it's original 2 tone Ember Red-Ermine white combination. The paint is polished like glass. Every piece of trim is replaced or restored to show quality. All the stainless is polished like chrome. It has a bowtie mirror and rear mount antenna. All the weatherstrips and seals were replaced. The glass is crystal clear, I think it was all replaced. Even the window frames are rechromed. Door jambs are slick like the car. The latches, hardware, weatherstripa and sill plates look new. It has correct T-3 headlights. It also has reproduction tires on restored rims with correct hubcaps.
INTERIOR: I open the door and I'm looking at what looks like a brand new interior. It is pristine down to the details. Interior lights work. Down on the floor it has red and black speckled carpet and reproduction floor mats. In front of me is a pristine dash with a factory tachometer. The metal trim is painted smooth. All the lenses, gauges, knobs and trim look brand new. New optional padded dash. The steering wheel, levers and shift indicator all look brand new. Above me is a white headliner that fits tight as a drum, visors and mirror look new. The door panels, armrests, window cranks are replaced. The seats are all reupholstered. It truly looks brand new inside this car.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment was restored back to factory specs. It has it's original number matching 409-340 hp motor. Casting numbers, dates and codes line up properly. The engine runs smooth as can be. It has a correct carburetor with the heat tube going to choke, correct glass bowl filter and new fuel pump. Rechromed correct valve covers and air cleaner with reproduction stickers. It has reproduction hoses and clamps, correct slant top radiator uniqueto 409 cars. The battery is bolted down properly, it has spring clamp cables. Features include power steering and power brakes. All the metal surfaces are smooth and painted real nicely. Every component looks like it's been restored or replaced. New wire harness.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Completely solid metal with a very neat coat of gray and white spatter finish paint. It has a 5th matching reproduction tire on a restored rim. It includes the jack assembly. Bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb are slick like the car. It has reproduction three piece mat, weatherstrip and wire harness.
UNDERSIDE: The body has been off the frame for restoration. The underside of the car has factory undercoat that was prepped and then painted red. The entire chassis and components were prepped and painted a satin black. All the components were rebuilt or restored. The suspension, steering and brakes were all redone. It has a nice dual exhaust bent right along the x-frame, has glasspack style mufflers. The fuel tank, straps, sending unit where replaced. Brake lines and fuel lines were replaced. Bottom of the motor is spotless. It has correct starter and canister type oil filter. The Powerglide automatic transmission looks fresh. Original rear end properly dated.
This car is impressive. It has the little details that makes a car exceptional. It functions and feels just as good as it looks. Someone will be very happy to own this 409!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.

    About Volo Auto Museum
No other collector car dealer has been in business longer than the Volo Auto Museum.  Owned and operated by the Grams family since 1960.  We are the only collector car dealer that has 4 generations of experience with buying, selling and consigning classic autos.  For our family, classic cars are more than a business, it is a passion.  Over the decades, we have maintained a reputation for dealing with integrity as proven with our high reviews and A+ rating with the BBB.
Buying a classic car can be exciting, but also stressful.  We want to take the stress out of your buying experience by allowing you the time and tools you need to get to know the car you are interested in before making your investment, not after.  Unlike auctions, we allow test drives, 3rd party inspections, the use of our shop and car lift.  No reasonable request will be turned down.
Selling a car can be equally stressful, but it doesn’t have to be.  After reviewing your quality collector car, we will discuss the options we have available to you and let you decide what works best for you.  We have cash available for immediate sales and we also offer a consignment program that surpasses anyone else’s.   Unlike percentage based programs with fees; we work with a no fee, net to owner.  This allows us the opportunity to treat and market your car as if it were our own.  We invest approximately 00 of our own money into marketing your car, which means if it doesn’t sell, we lose, not you.  So, we are more aggressive in selling your car!
