Description

Snowflake obsidian is typically black with white splotches, or snowflakes. The flakes are actually a result of the silica in the volcanic glass recrystallizing in a form more similar to quartz. While it can make for a dramatic visual effect, it makes knapping more difficult. Flakes of obsidian won't push through the impurities that are the snowflakes.
